[Suggestion] List view

Switching between a list/column view and the current grid view could be useful for users that want to use this for text/binary file organization instead of images

Just for reference. Column view is actually different view from list. You can find pictures of it when googling the "macOS Finder column view"

There's also a relatively modern view called Masonry (or Waterfall), but it's in my opinion just grid view with irregular grid. Here more info about it: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40130148 (article is another link, but comments may add some value)

Hmmm, interesting idea, I think one way to implement this is an alternate view, so in the current gallery "view" you would see an icon representation, while a document "view" would show some sort of document text preview, with potential for expanding the document for full text.

not an small feature but an interesting idea for working with tags and text media.

That's not the point of this suggestion, is it? List view is just another way of presenting items without actually opening them.

The view doesn't have any say about the way of previewing images or documents. For example gnome-sushi opens the supported files in a new window, but there are other programs that let you preview the files in the side panel of file browser.
