this is not using hwaccel, it is using software encoder (libx264) I'd suggest letting frigate run for a few minutes then paste logs |

Server is headless so there is no X-server. Followed the Debian page to install the drivers: server vainfo:
Frigate vainfo Process Output: vainfo: VA-API version: 1.17 (libva 2.10.0) |

we would still expect to see proper vainfo output on the host, maybe a driver update will help |

I am at work for a couple days. I will post an update about the drivers
when I get back. Thank you.

The i965-va-driver and i965-va-driver-shaders are up to date per the Debian wiki. |

I managed to get hardware decoding (but not encoding; it's not supported on my chip) by making the following ffmpeg configuration: ffmpeg:
hwaccel_args:
- -hwaccel
- vaapi You could easily set this per-camera if you wanted as well; I just set it globally. |

Describe the problem you are having
I am trying to get hardware acceleration to work with an Intel Ironlake 5th gen. When I enable hwaccel_args preset-vaapi, the camera shows a green screen. intel_gpu_top shows the gpu is processing. I am able to get ffmpeg to work on the system and in the docker container with :
sudo ffmpeg -hwaccel vaapi -vaapi_device /dev/dri/renderD128 -i rtsp://user:pass@1.1.1.1:554 -c:v libx264 -crf 20 output.mp4
