Homechart would need a way to handle currencies outside of accounts/transactions, similar to Gnucash. In this model, you'd define currencies and the exchange rates between them, and select one of these currencies when you create a transaction (or multiple, depending on the transaction type, i.e. transfer etc). This isn't the easiest thing in the world to implement, especially providing a way to automatically figure out the exchange rate for who knows what kind of currencies, but it's not impossible. Will consider implementing it if more users are interested in it. |

Especially in bordering or other highly international contexts, it's often common to use at least 2 currencies.
In our case, the USD, MXN, and BTC.
We have and manage accounts in the three currencies as well always use and receive small amounts of cash in the two currencies as well.
Rather than limiting Homechart to adding MXN or BTC and forcing users to use a single currency for all accounts and transactions, and potentially getting widely wrong values because of it, or having to constantly adjust the profit/loss due to exchange rate volatility, it would be best to allow users to set accounts and/or transactions in a currency agnostic way.
That would allow me to easily and accurately portray reality, such as listing a "cash in wallet" account as having $100 USD and $500 MXN.
