I would also be interested in using this PID for other scenarios other than controlling by temperature. For example, to control the surpluses of photovoltaic production, diverting the excess power to a heating resistance. Do you see that this PID Climate component can perform this function as designed? I'm designing a HVAC zoning retrofit for my house. I will need to control a modulating damper actuator to meet a duct static pressure setpoint. My plan is to have an ESP32 board talk I2C to a pressure transmitter sampling the duct static pressure and a 4-20ma output DAC that will control the position of the damper actuator.
I saw that there's a PID Climate controller available that implements a PID loop controller but it's quite climate-specific. Is the best way to approach this to just use that function and then override the units somehow so that things display properly when I integrate into Home Assistant?
