The Graphi website tries to automatically offer the correct download for each user's OS. However, it offers me the Intel macOS downloads even though I'm on an Apple Silicon Mac. This will be confusing to many users. While I haven't tried Gephi specifically, my experience with Java programs is that the Intel version usually doesn't work under Rosetta on Apple Silicon Macs.
Proposed solution
If detecting the platform accurately is not feasible, it's better to not detect it at all and leave it to the user to choose the correct download.
Alternatives considered
—
Additional context
Making the installation smoother can be very helpful in an academic setting (e.g. when many students download the wrong version).
