Hi! Thanks for the request – we've discussed this previously in #14802, and I think the answer there still reflects the thinking of the core team.

@jakevdp With all due respect, GH discussions are too fragmented and not really well searchable - nor do they encourage interesting discussions and ideas. I think going forward, a discord would be a much better idea to pool the knowledge of the community and grow the ecosystem better.

There's already the jax LLM server which has channels for a bunch of jax codebases, but I think if we can rehaul it into something more familiar (like having a #general) then we could make it into a better forum of discussion.

If you guys do go through with this, and the mods of the server agree (I'm unaffiliated with the server) then perhaps we could even consider advertising the discord as a pinned issue on GitHub. Personally, I have no problem moderating the server though in my experience, even huge technical servers like EleutherAI tend not to need to be moderated.
