PixieSort is a user-friendly and efficient photo organizer app designed to bring order to your photo collection. Its primary goal is to sort and organize your cherished memories based on their original taken dates, allowing you to relive those special moments in a beautifully chronological manner. With PixieSort, say goodbye to photo clutter and let the magic unfold on your pictures!

-Safe Backing Up: PixieSort prioritizes the security of your treasured memories by creating backups of your pictures instead of moving them. With this approach, your original photos remain untouched, granting you peace of mind in the event of any unforeseen errors during the process.

  • Metadata Magic: The app automatically updates the created and modified times of your pictures to match their original taken time. This enhancement ensures that your photos' metadata accurately reflects the moment they were captured.

  • Organized File Names: PixieSort neatly modifies the file names of your pictures, incorporating the created timestamp for easy identification and access.

  • Intuitive Folder Structure: PixieSort creates organized folders based on the year and month (YYYY/MM), ensuring your photos are neatly grouped according to their respective capture dates.

  • Picture-Perfect Selection: PixieSort smartly identifies only picture files in the JPG and PNG formats, skipping anything unrelated, to keep your collection focused and relevant.

  • Duplicate Detection: The app effortlessly detects duplicate photos and skillfully skips them during the organizing process, preventing any redundant copies.

How to Use PixieSort:

RUN:

  • I advise you to save it to its own folder, as the same folder will be used for Backups
cd to.location.of.file
java -jar foto-organizer-1.0-SNAPSHOT.jar

To Adjust WhatsApp Metadata:

WhatsApp images should be named as: IMG-YYYYMMDD-WAXXXX.jpg

This process is valid only for direct pictures located in the WhatsApp Media / Pictures folder.

To Organize Normal Pictures:

Launch PixieSort and specify the path where your pictures are located, including any sub-folders.
Select the destination path where you want the organized pictures to be saved.
Click on the "Organize" button to let PixieSort work its magic.

Interrupting the Process:

Should you need to interrupt the process, simply close the app. When you resume, PixieSort will intelligently skip duplicates and perform a backup before proceeding to ensure no data is lost.
